CSUSM Treks to Stan State, East Bay This Weekend

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men’s soccer team will travel to Stanislaus State (5-7-1, 1-5-0 CCAA) for a 7 p.m. match on Friday before heading over to Cal State East Bay (2-9-1, 1-5-0 CCAA) for an 11:30 a.m. game on Sunday.

LAST WEEKEND

  • The Cougars fell 1-0 at No. 13 Cal State LA last Thursday before falling 4-0 to Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday.
  • CSUSM moved into a tie for eighth in the CCAA standings with four points.

COUGARS BY THE NUMBERS

  • CSUSM is making 4.5 saves per game – third most in the CCAA and 49th nationally.

COUGAR OUTLOOK

  • With the 2020 and 2021 newcomers combined, the Cougars have 16 players wearing a CSUSM uniform for the first time.
  • The Cougars have 13 returners from the 2019 squad and are fronted by forward Juan Camilo Salazar, who led the Cougars with six goals, 13 points and a season-record 64 shots.

THE PULVERS FILE

  • This season marks the 16th season for head coach Ron Pulvers at CSUSM.
  • Pulvers has a 119-102-26 (.534) record as CSUSM's head men's coach.
  • In 24 seasons as a collegiate head men's soccer coach, Pulvers holds a 245-173-40 (.579) career record.
  • He was 84-42-24 (.640) while in charge of the CSUSM women's program.
  • From 2006-13, Pulvers led both the CSUSM men's and women's soccer teams.
