HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars trailed early in the first set but fought back to take a 17-15 lead on a solo block by Maddy Newcombe.
- Point Loma snagged the opening frame, 25-22, after tallying eight blocks to CSUSM's three.
- The Sea Lions pulled away from CSUSM with a 6-2 run to make it 19-12.
- The Cougars fought off three set points before PLNU collected the second set win at 25-20.
- CSUSM kept it a one-point difference until the halfway point when the Sea Lions got on a roll to finish with a 25-22 win.
