Box Score SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team fell in four sets to No. 24 Cal State LA in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action on Saturday night in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Down 18-9 at one point in the opening set, the Cougars charged back to cut the gap to 23-21 on a block by Newcombe and Mackenzie Jennings before CSULA took its final timeout. The Golden Eagles claimed the first set at 25-22.
• A 7-1 CSULA run broke a 12-12 tie, but once again, the Cougars fought back to make it 24-23 before the Golden Eagles claimed the set at 25-23.
• Back-to-back CSULA hitting errors gave CSUSM a 19-18 lead in the third set. The Cougars extended their lead to 21-18 with consecutive kills by Vander Weide and Newcombe. A pair of blocks clinched the 25-20 victory for CSUSM to force a fourth set.
• The Cougars tallied a match-low eight kills in the fourth set, falling 25-18 as the Golden Eagles clinched the match victory.

 
QUICK HITS

• The Cougars fall to 15-9 (9-6 CCAA) while the Golden Eagles move up to 16-7 (12-3 CCAA)
• Both teams hit under .200 for the match with CSULA finishing with a .199 clip to CSUSM's .141.
