SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Men's and women's basketball will be on the road this week for Cal State San Marcos Athletics as the Cougars head to Stanislaus State to face the Warriors on Thursday evening.

The women's game will get underway at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by the men's contest at 7:30 p.m.

- The Cougars recorded a pair of victories last week in The Sports Center, dominating Sonoma State (72-54) before pulling off an overtime comeback against Chico State.
- Junior Jon'Nae Vermillion tallied a game-high 21 points against the Seawolves before collecting her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds against Chico State.
- Junior Davina Del Castillo pulled down a season-best 12 rebounds in the SSU victory.

Northwest Nazarene (12-0) is No. 1, followed by No. 2 UC San Diego (12-0), No. 3 Alaska Anchorage (11-1), No. 4 Cal Poly Pomona (9-2), No. 5 Central Washington (8-3), No. 6 Dominican (9-2), No. 7 Western Washington (8-4) and No. 8 Azusa Pacific (11-3). STANISLAUS STATE UPDATE
- The Warriors defeated Cal State Monterey Bay last Saturday, 61-51, after dropping a 63-48 decision to Cal State East Bay on Jan. 3.
- Stan State sits in 12th place in the CCAA standings with only two conference wins (SSU and CSUMB).
- The Cougars snapped a four-game losing streak against the Warriors last season with an 81-71 victory in San Marcos on Jan. 20.
- Kyanna Davis is Stan State's leading scorer, averaging 13.1 points per game.
- As a team, the Warriors is averaging the second highest steal percentage in the CCAA with 10.69 per game.
- SSU was picked to finish ninth in the CCAA Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll.

- Head coach Renee Jimenez enters her fourth season in charge of the Cougar women's basketball team, a program that is only in its eighth season of existence.

- The Warriors ended a four-game losing streak on Saturday by defeating Cal State Monterey Bay 82-70 on the road.
- Stanislaus State has a trio of scorers averaging 14-plus points per game in Vasilije Saraba (15.3), Andy Cleaves (15.0) and Ty Davis (14.1).
- Saraba has the third-best free-throw percentage in the nation at 95.5 percent.
- The Warriors are 11th in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings with a 2-6 conference record and a 5-7 overall record.
- Stanislaus State's scoring offense (71.1 points per game) ranks 10th in the conference while its scoring defense (74.6 points per game) ranks 11th.

- Head coach B.J. Foster enters his third season in charge of the CSUSM Men's Basketball program after taking over the head position in 2016.
