Cougars Hindered by Sharp-Shooting Wildcats, 88-64

CHICO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team couldn't contain Chico State from beyond the arc and fell 88-64 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Saturday night at Acker Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • CSUSM trailed Chico by a score of 50-37 at the half.
  • The Cougars shot 65.2 percent (15-of-23) from the field in the first 20 minutes, but the Wildcats were 12-of-17 (70.6%) from three with a 56.3 field-goal percentage (18-of-32).
  • Soffer had a team-high 11 points at the break while Elliott and Fuller each had 10.
  • The Cougars got within seven points of the Wildcats' lead with 2:43 remaining in the first half at 38-31, but it was the closest they came to Chico's lead for the rest of the game.
  • CSUSM finished the game shooting a season-high 56.5 percent (26-of-46) while Chico came in at 53.7 percent (29-of-54).
  • The Wildcats ended the game with 18 3-point field goals made. 
  • The Wildcats led for all but 16 seconds as the Cougars never posted a lead.
