Late Goals Lift CSUSM to 2-0 Victory over HSU

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team collected its third California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) victory on Friday with a 2-0 win over visiting Humboldt State at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • CSUSM keeper Yesenia Betancourt recorded three saves in a matter of seconds to stop a HSU two-on-one charge.
  • A loose ball in front of HSU's goal resulted in Wiens connecting on a header to send the ball across the line in the 76th minute.
  • The Cougars got an insurance goal in the 87th minute when Pigoni crushed the ball from 25 yards out to the far right corner.
 
QUICK KICKS
  • With the victory, CSUSM improved to 4-3-1 overall and 3-0 in CCAA play. The Jacks dropped to 3-5-1, 1-4 in conference action.
  • Wiens recorded her first collegiate goal of the 2018 season.
  • Seven different Cougars have found the back of the net this season.
  • HSU outshot CSUSM 13 to 7 in the match.
