SAN MARCOS, Calif. – For the second consecutive week, the Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team is ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 Poll, this time at No. 23.

The Cougars entered the poll for the first time as a member of the NCAA last week at No. 19.

CSUSM had a top-25 matchup against then-No. 23 UC San Diego in a non-conference game on Friday. After going down 2-0 with 40 minutes left to play, CSUSM fought back with two goals within a minute of each other by
David Martin and
Collin Wagstaff in the 79th and 80th minutes, respectively. Just over one minute into overtime, the Tritons scored the game-winning goal to hand the Cougars their lone loss of the year.

CSUSM is 6-1 overall this season and holds a 2-0 record in California College Athletic Association (CCAA) play.

The No. 23 Cougars will continue CCAA play this weekend with two games at The Cage. CSUSM will square off with Humboldt State (3-3-2, 0-2-2Â CCAA) on Friday at 3 p.m. before wrapping things up against Sonoma State (2-4-2, 0-3-1 CCAA) on Sunday at 2 p.m.
