Cougars Sweep SF State, Improve to 3-0 in CCAA

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team collected its first California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) sweep on Saturday night by defeating San Francisco State at The Sports Center. With the win, the Cougars improved to 3-0 in conference action and 7-4 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cougars carried the momentum from last night's win over Cal State East Bay into the opening set, taking a quick 5-0 lead. SF State rallied back to cut CSUSM's lead to 8-7 but the Cougars got the spark again with a 12-2 run.
  • After a slow start in the second stanza, the Cougars put together an 11-3 run to pull away from the Gators.
  • CSUSM dominated in the third set, never allowing the Gators into the set.
 
QUICK HITS
  • The Cougars collected four of their seven blocks in the first set.
  • CSUSM's defense held the Gators to a .010 attack percentage for the match, forcing 19 errors on 105 attempts while making only 20 kills. CSUSM, on the other hand, had 43 kills in the contest.
  • CSUSM is one of four teams, all from the South Division, that remain undefeated in CCAA play. Cal Poly Pomona and No. 8 Cal State San Bernardino are 4-0 while No. 22 Cal State L.A. and the Cougars are 3-0 in conference action.
