AMARILLO, Texas – With an hour delay due to lightning, the Cal State San Marcos showed a 13-stroke improvement on Tuesday in the second round, shooting a 4-over 288 in the 2018 NCAA West/South Central Regional. The Cougars moved up three spots to 11th place on the par-71, 6,805 yard La Paloma Course at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas.
Senior
Braeden Koran tallied five birdies to finish with a 1-under 70 and is tied with classmate
Chris Tuulik with a 2-over 144. They are tied with four others for 17th place. Tuulik carded an even-par 71 and recorded three birdies after carding a bogey on the first hole.
Junior
Jordan McBrayer also improved on his opening round score with a 73 on Tuesday. He finished the day tied for 47th with a 7-over 149. Sophomore
Justin Vrzich showed the most improvement in the second round, carding a 74 after an 82 yesterday. He recorded a 36-hole total of 14-over 156 and is tied for 97th. Sophomore
Ryan Bisharat is tied for 105th with a 19-over 161.
First place California Baptist has a one-stroke lead over St. Mary's (TX) with a 2-over 570. Oklahoma Christian's Cameron Brown and Kyle McLay of Holy Names are on top of the leaderboard with a 4-under 138.
In the final round, the Cougars will once again play with Rogers State and five individual golfers. The will begin at 10:50 a.m. PDT (12:50 CDT).
