SAN FRANCISCO – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team ended its 2018 season by falling 3-2 in the ninth round of penalty kicks to San Francisco State after ending its California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament first-round match in a 0-0 draw on Tuesday evening at Cox Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game went to overtime after going scoreless in regulation.
- After two scoreless overtime periods, the Cougars' first-round CCAA Tournament match went to a shootout for the second consecutive season.
- After SFSU's Janessa Staab made the first penalty kick of the shootout into the bottom left corner, Jessica Harloe put her shot into the same exact spot to tie it up at 1-1.
- Still tied at 1-1 heading into the fifth round of shots, SFSU's Kelsie Bozart and CSUSM's Jessica Moreno each made their shot to tie it up at 2-2.
- After three rounds of misses, SFSU's Marriah Perez put the Gators ahead 3-2 in the ninth round with a shot into the middle of the net.
- The Cougars missed their ninth-round shot and saw their 2018 season come to a close.
