SAN MARCOS, Calif. – For the second consecutive match, the Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team had to settle for a tie, this time a 0-0 draw against No. 9 UC San Diego on Wednesday afternoon at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• CSUSM almost went up 1-0 in the 53rd minute when Josh Mendez took a shot from 12 yards out that bounced off the center of the crossbar.
• In the 85th minute, UCSD's Jon Veigar Kristjansson hooked a shot from the left side that went off the post. Less than one minute later, UCSD got two shots off in a matter of seconds with the first one by Brett Jones going off the cross bar before CSUSM keeper Justin Tesar collected the rebound shot by Jonathan Sabouri.
• CSUSM had another great scoring opportunity in the 95th minute when Juan Camilo Salazar's shot hit the cross bar and bounced straight down before UCSD's keeper Pedro Enciso grabbed it.

 
QUICK KICKS

• The Cougars (6-2-2, 2-1-2 CCAA) and the Tritons (9-0-2, 3-0-2 CCAA) each earn a point with the tie.
• Tesar faced 15 shots while making five saves in the 110 minutes.
