SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team returned to The Sports Center on Friday night to put on a dominant performance by sweeping Sonoma State in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) match.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• CSUSM recorded a .304 attacking percentage that boosted them to a 25-13 victory in the opening set.
• Both teams battled in the beginning of the second set before Maddy Newcombe served eight consecutive points to help lift the Cougars to a 25-15 win.
• The Cougars secured the third set at 25-10 with a match-high .429 clip.

• CSUSM improves to 10-11 (6-7 CCAA) while SSU drops to 8-14 (4-9 CCAA).
• The Cougars tallied 13 blocks in the contest, the most in a three-set match this season.

CSUSM will host Humboldt State tomorrow night at 5 p.m. in its final home match of the 2018 season. Prior to first serve, the Cougars will celebrate their five seniors (Faith Fortuné, Ashley Pedersen, Courtney Hulla, Haley Montgomery and Lauren Lee) in a short ceremony.
