SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team rebounded with a 65-58 win over Sonoma State in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Thursday night.
With the win, CSUSM improves to 15-4 overall and 10-3 in CCAA play while the Seawolves drop to 9-9, 7-7 CCAA following the loss.

Ethan Alvano scored a game-high 19 points on 5-of-13 shooting including four 3-pointers and six rebounds. Classmate
Brian Wright finished with 13 points, five rebounds and two assists.
CSUSM's largest lead of the game was stretched to 21 points with 13:09 left to play but the Seawolves wouldn't go away easy. SSU would trim the Cougar lead to as little as four points with just 21 seconds left in regulation following a Mason Phillips 3-pointer.
CSUSM outrebounded SSU 47-35 in the battle of the boards including 9-5 on the offensive glass.
The Cougars shot just 20-of-54 (37.0 percent) from the field, their lowest percentage of the season. CSUSM's defense was outstanding though, limiting the Seawolves to just 25.8 percent in the first half and 23-of-62 (37.1) for the game including just 6-of-18 from the perimeter.
CSUSM led for 26:22 in the game and never trailed by more than seven points.
The Cougars will travel up north next to take on CCAA opponent SF State on Friday Feb. 2. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
