SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's and women's basketball teams close out 2017 facing San Francisco State on New Years Eve at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in The Sports Center.

STANISLAUS STATE
  • CSUSM is 0-3 all-time against the Warriors.
  • The Cougars faced Stan State only once last season, falling to the Warriors, 67-60, in Turlock.
  • The Warriors are in the middle of a four-game losing streak with their last win coming against Cal State L.A. (63-60) on Dec. 2
  • Stan State ranks second in the CCAA statistical standings in blocked shots (3.92) and steals (11.17). Individually, Zahria Hendrix ranks second in steals per game (2.8) while Erika Larsen is third in blocked shots per game (1.6).
     
    SAN FRANCISCO STATE
  • CSUSM is tied at one game each in the all-time series against the Gators.
  • Last season, the Cougars defeated the Gators 73-65 in San Marcos on Jan. 26. Down by one point entering the final quarter, CSUSM outscored SF State 22-13 to clinch the victory. Camp recorded a game-high 25 points.
  • The Gators crushed Cal State Monterey Bay, 71-48, on Dec. 17 to earn their second CCAA win of the season.
  • With only 10 student-athletes on the SF State roster, Jhaina Stephens ranks third in the conference statistics with a 17.5 points per game average while leading in rebounds with 12.0 per game.  
     
CSUSM BREAKDOWN
  • Prior to the holiday break, CSUSM dropped a 52-46 decision at Cal State L.A. Senior Raegan Lillie tallied a season-best 17 points after going 7-of-13 from the field. Senior Lupe Cruz added eight points and nine rebounds in her 21 minutes.
  • The Cougars rank inside the top five in multiple categories in the CCAA including; first in 3-point field-goal percentage defense (25.7 percent), second in defensive rebounds (29.9), fourth in blocked shots per game (3.63) and fifth in assists per game (13.25).
  • Senior Savannah Camp ranks fifth in the CCAA in points scored per game (16.0) and classmate Monica Friedl sits in sixth place for averaging 1.1 blocked shots per game.

STANISLAUS STATE
  • The Cougars hold a 3-0 all-time record over the Warriors.
  • Last season, CSUSM defeated the Warriors, 94-76, in Turlock on Feb. 9. Senior Brian Wright had a team-high 18 points while classmate Joe Boyd (17 pts, 11 reb) and Ethan Alvano (15 pts, 14 ast) each recorded a double-double.
  • The Warriors have won five of their last six games and are coming off a 90-79 loss to Seattle Pacific on Dec. 18.
  • Three Warrior players all average double-digits scoring while Andy Cleaves leads the team with 13.6 points per game. Stanislaus ranks third in the CCAA in scoring defense, allowing just 68.4 points per game.
 
SAN FRANCISCO STATE
  • CSUSM is 0-2 all-time against SFSU.
  • In the lone meeting between these two teams last season, the Gators took down CSUSM 85-76 in San Marcos on Jan. 26. The Gators' Coley Apsay had a team-high 19 points while CSUSM was led by Alvano who scored a game-high 23 points.
  • SF State ranks second in the conference in scoring at 80.7 points per game but rank last in scoring defense, allowing 77.6 points per game.
  • SFSU reached the CCAA Tournament Championship game in 2017.
 
CSUSM BREAKDOWN
  • The Cougars took down Cal State L.A. on the road, 83-78, in their only game last week on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Boyd led the team with 16 points and 19 rebounds, his sixth double-double this season.
  • CSUSM ranks first in the CCAA in points per game (84.8), scoring margin (14.2), field goal percentage (49.2) and 3-point field goal percentage (42.6).
  • Alvano leads the CCAA in multiple categories including, points per game (20.2), assists per game (6.6), assist/turnover ratio (2.9) and steals per game (2.9).
