SAN MARCOS, Calif. – With the fall season in the books, the Cal State San Marcos men's and women's basketball teams will wrap up its nonconference schedule this week before opening California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action next week.

AZUSA PACIFIC
- CSUSM is just 1-3 all-time against APU.
- In the last meeting, senior Ethan Alvano scored a game-high 23 points and helped lead CSUSM to a 75-66 road win on Nov. 19, 2016.
- Darien McClain leads the team in multiple categories this season including points per game (15.2), assists (4.2) and minutes (30.2).
- APU has dropped back-to-back games to Western Oregon (99-87) and Eastern New Mexico (86-70).
CONCORDIA (Ore.)
- This is the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
- The Cavaliers are led offensively by Jarrett Gray (20.8 ppg), Cody Starr (15 ppg) and Christopher Edward (14.8 ppg). Gray also leads the team in minutes played per game (39.3).
- CU has moved into eighth in the latest D2SIDA DII West Region Poll after receiving votes the previous week.
- The Cavaliers have beaten three CCAA opponents this season including Cal State Monterey Bay (88-85), Cal State San Bernardino (65-64) and San Francisco State (102-97).
SAN DIEGO CHRISTIAN
- CSUSM is 4-1 all-time against SDC and have won the last four meetings.
- The Cougars took down the Hawks, 104-69, in the last meeting on Nov. 22, 2016. CSUSM finished with five guys scoring in double-digits including a game-high 24 points from Tyson Kygar.
- The Hawks have dropped three consecutive games and are coming off an 87-72 loss at Point Loma on Nov. 18.
- Derek Novsek leads the team in points per game (24) and is tied for the team lead in rebounds per game (4.8).
CSUSM BREAKDOWN
- The Cougars took down nonconference opponent West Coast Baptist, 99-49, at home in their only game last week.
- CSUSM had five different players score in double-digits. Seniors Joe Boyd (16 pts, 10 rebs) and Josh Spiers (14 pts, 11 rebs) each recorded a double-double.
- Senior Ethan Alvano leads the team in points per game (22.3), assists per game (7), 3-point percentage (61.5) and minutes played per game (30.3).
- The Cougars lead the CCAA as a team in points per game (89.7), 3-point field goal percentage (45.3), 3-point field goals made (34) and are also fourth in defense and points allowed per game (69.7).

- CSUSM is 1-1 in the all-time series against Azusa Pacific, coming out victorious in the last meeting between these two teams. CSUSM registered a 79-61 win over APU at last year's UCSD Thanksgiving Classic.
- The APU Cougars are ranked No. 16 in 2017-18 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing last season with a 16-14 record.
- APU's one loss on the season was 80-69 loss to Seattle Pacific in the West Region Crossover Classic.
- APU's top players are senior guard Abbigail Goodsell (18.0 ppg, 42.9 3-pt%) and sophomore guard Savanna Hanson (17.9 ppg, 8.8 rpg).
DOMINICAN
- This will be the first meeting between these two teams.
- The Penguins recorded victories over Chico State (83-81) and Sonoma State (94-79) before falling to San Francisco State (87-77) on the road.
- Dominican is led by Sandra Ikeora who is averaging 22.3 points and 16.3 rebounds per game.
CSUSM BREAKDOWN
- In the 2017-18 CCAA women's basketball preseason poll, the Cougars were picked to finish fourth this season.
- CSUSM dropped its first two games of the season to Cal Baptist (80-63) and Simon Fraser (63-59), who had a No. 6 ranking in the latest D2SIDA West Region Media Poll.
- Senior Savannah Camp and junior Stephanie Custodio are both averaging double-digits in scoring with 18.5 and 12.0, respectively.
- The Cougars are holding their opponents to a conference-best 14.8 percent (4-of-27) from behind the 3-point line.
