CARSON, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team closed out the 2017 regular season on Saturday night, falling to Cal State Dominguez Hills in four sets (21-25, 25-15, 19-25, 25-27) at the Torodome.
The Cougars will enter the 2017 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament as the South Division No. 2 seed and are expected to face the North Division No. 3 seed Chico State in the first match on Thursday at noon.
On the night, sophomore outside hitter
Madi Anderson tallied a team-high 12 kills and three aces. Junior outside hitter and setter
Lauren Lee registered her third triple-double of the season with 20 assists, 13 digs and 11 kills. Freshman libero
Grecia Cordero-Barr notched 19 digs.
After falling 25-21 in the opening set, CSUSM came out on fire with a 7-0 run and finished with a .370 attack percentage to even the match at 1-1 with a 25-15 second set victory.
A 9-2 run in the middle of the third set gave the Toros the cushion they needed to regain the advantage in the match at 2-1.
With 14 lead changes in the fourth set, CSUSM had two set-points at 24-23 and 25-24 before CSUDH rattled off three unanswered points to clinch the match.
CSUDH's Claire Autry ended the night with 18 kills and three total blocks.
