SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team equalized in the second half on the way to a 1-1 (2OT) tie against Chico State in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) on Friday in The Cage.
Andrew Stalboerger scored his second goal in as many games, volleying home
Jacob Cintas' cross in the 60
th minute to pull the Cougars even. Omar Nuno put the Wildcats ahead in the 35
th minute with his fifth goal of the season.
The draw secured a total of four points for the Cougars during their first week of CCAA competition in 2016. CSUSM upset No. 21 UC San Diego on Wednesday, 1-0, via a goal from Stalboerger.
After an 0-2 start to the season, the Cougars have gone 2-0-1 over their last three and move to 2-2-1 on the season, 1-0-1 CCAA. Chico State moves to 1-3-3 overall and 0-1-2 in the CCAA.
CSUSM takes on Humboldt State in CCAA play next Friday in The Cage at 3 p.m.
