SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Members of the Cal State San Marcos Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) had the opportunity to meet California State University Chancellor Timothy White earlier this week while he was visiting the campus as part of his "Innovations in the Classroom" 23-campus tour this academic year.
Chancellor White and the SAAC representatives sat down for a luncheon after the Chancellor toured The Sports Center, the Cougars' new on-campus athletics facility.
"I am thankful to have had the opportunity to meet the chancellor," said
Erica Dory, a member of the women's soccer team. "He seemed to really want to get to know us and was very personable. He made us feel like we could be honest and be ourselves."
"Nutrition was a priority for Chancellor White," said men's soccer freshman
Andrew Stalboerger. "He was concerned about students having enough money to eat healthy and is trying to setup food pantries at all the Cal State Universities."
Prior to meeting with the student-athletes, Associate Director of Athletics
Morod Shah gave Chancellor White a tour of The Sports Center which will open Sept. 1, 2016.
"Chancellor White was impressed with the design, with all the little details," said Shah. "He echoed how important it was for the student-athletes to have a facility like this moving forward in our new journey into the NCAA."
SAAC is a student led organization that works to enhance the student-athlete experience on campus and in the community.
