CSUSM Draws 0-0 in Season Finale at CSUSB, Will Carry Momentum into 2017

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team finished the year with a 0-0 (2 OT) draw at Cal State San Bernardino in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Saturday at Premier Field.

CSUSM wraps up the year with a 7-4-6 overall mark and a 5-4-3 record in CCAA play. Had the Cougars been eligible for the postseason tournament, CSUSM would have guaranteed itself the No. 6 seed for the CCAA postseason tournament with 18 points in conference competition. Instead, Cal State L.A., which finished seventh with 16 points and a 5-6-1 conference record, sneaks into the final sixth-seed for the CCAA Tournament.

CSUSM is not eligible for the CCAA postseason tournament due stipulations set forth in its NCAA Division II Provisional Membership status. CSUSM is slated to be ready for postseason play in 2017-18 if full NCAA Division II membership status is granted this summer.

CSUSM outshot the Coyotes, 22-5, and won the corner kick battle 12-2. However, the squad could not get a shot past the CSUSB goalkeepers, who combined for five saves.

Right-back Holly Isaacs led the Cougars with four shots.

The Cougars more than doubled their overall win total (3) and earned six more points in CCAA play (12) than they did during their first season of NCAA Division II and CCAA competition in 2015.
