CSUSM Can Play CCAA Tournament Spoiler in Final Weekend of Season

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team can impact the California Collegiate Athletic Association postseason tournament, despite not being eligible for the competition, as the Cougars take on No. 18 Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino to end the regular season.

Cougar Notes
· CSUSM went 0-0-2 last week with draws at Cal State East Bay and Stanislaus State and is unbeaten over its last three matches.
· CSUSM is 2-0 against ranked teams in 2016 with wins over then-No. 21 UC San Diego and then-No. 12 Cal State L.A.
· CSUSM is in seventh place in the CCAA standings on 16 points.

CSUSM vs. CPP
· CSUSM is 1-1-2 all-time vs. CPP.
· The Cougars tied the Broncos 1-1 in their last meeting in 2015.
· CPP has won three of their last four (3-0-1).
· CPP is currently in third place in the CCAA standings, three points back of UCSD, and has already locked up a CCAA Tournament berth.

Cougars vs. Coyotes
· CSUSM is 1-2-0 against CSUSB all-time.
· CSUSB took down CSUSM 2-1 in OT in the first-ever CCAA match for the Cougars in 2015.
· CSUSB is coming off back-to-back road losses.
· CSUSB is tied for seventh in the CCAA standings and will need at least three points this weekend to stay alive for a CCAA Tournament berth.

The Pulvers File
Head coach Ron Pulvers enters his 11th season as head coach of the CSUSM men's soccer program and 21st overall as a collegiate head coach. He holds a 101-63-19 (.598) record in charge of the CSUSM men's program and a 227-134-33 (.620) career record. Between 2006-13, Pulvers was the head coach for both the men's and women's programs at CSUSM.
