Cougars Go 1-1 on The WeekendCSUSM earned its first-ever victory in the CCAA last Friday, pounding previously-undefeated Stanislaus State, 3-0, at the Cougar Den.

Landon Sherwood made five saves in the team's third clean sheet this season. On Sunday against Cal State East Bay, CSUSM could not get anything going on the offensive end and surrendered a penalty kick in the 89

CSULA Breakdown: The Golden Eagles are the reigning NCAA Division II West Region champions and were picked to win the CCAA this season. CSULA suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday at Cal Poly Pomona, but that came after five consecutive victories in which the Golden Eagles outscored their opponents, 11-1. CSULA sits in first place in the CCAA with nine points and a 3-1 conference mark. Its goals-against average (0.42) is the lowest in the CCAA.

Last Meeting: L, 0-4 (Sept. 1, 2009); The Toros, ranked No. 1 and coming off of the 2008 NCAA DII national championship, put away the Cougars early by scoring three of their four goals in the first half.
CSUDH Breakdown: Since a 3-0 loss at home to Point Loma to open the season, the Toros have gone unbeaten in their last eight. Last weekend, CSUDH tied Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino, both by the score line of 2-2. CSUDH is 2-0-2 in the conference and sits third with eight points.

th in charge of CSUSM. Pulvers, who started the CSUSM program from the ground up in 2006, holds a 218-126-29 (.623) career coaching record, including a 92-55-15 (.614) mark at CSUSM.
New TerritoryAfter nine seasons of competition in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Cougars enter their first season of NCAA Division II competition in 2015. CSUSM is currently in the second year of a three-year transition to full NCAA Division II membership. As a part of the transition, the Cougars will be ineligible for postseason play in 2015 and 2016.
New ConferenceCal State San Marcos is in its first season competing in the 
California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The CCAA is made up of 12 CSU institutions and UC San Diego. The CCAA is one of the premier NCAA Division II leagues in the nation. Its teams have won more national championships (153) than any other conference. The Cougars came in tied for 12
th in the
