Opening Weekend in the CCAAEntering their first weekend of CCAA competition without a victory and with just two draws in hand, the Cougars made quite a first impression on their new conference. On Friday in the opener against CSUSB, the Cougars earned a point with a 1-1 draw thanks to
Amy Wilson's first career goal. On Sunday against Cal Poly Pomona, which was picked to finish third in the CCAA,
Natalie Lara and
Paulina Good scored second-half goals to ensure a
2-1 come-from-behind victory over the Broncos.
CCAA SituationThe Cougars are tied for second in the conference standings with a 1-0-1 mark along with Stan State, San Francisco State, Sonoma State and CSUSB. The lone team to walk away with two wins was first-place Humboldt State. HSU's victories were impressive considering they came on the road at Cal State Dominguez Hills and CCAA-favorite Cal State L.A.
