ARCATA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team fell in three sets at Humboldt State in a midweek match Tuesday night (25-15, 25-17, 25-17).
Senior
Taylor DeGraaf led the Cougars with seven kills and seven digs in the match. Junior
Brooke Butler added six kills.
CSUSM never led in the first set. The Lumberjacks jumped out to a 10-4 lead and never looked back. The second set was similar to the first, but the third set was a different story.
After intermission, the Cougars opened the third set with a 10-4 run which was highlighted by a block by senior
Jordan Banich and freshman
Faith Fortune. Yet, HSU answered with a 12-3 run and never relinquished the lead. The home team won three consecutive points to clinch the set and match.
The Cougars (3-9, 0-4 CCAA), who are still in search of their first CCAA victory, return home for a match-up against San Francisco State on Friday, Sept. 25. First serve is at 2 p.m.
