Last Meeting: The Cougars fell in four sets (23-25, 25-15, 22-25, 21-25) at Cal State L.A. on Oct. 10 in the Eagle Nest. CSUSM finished with a .295 attack percentage, the team's best performance to that point of the season.
Jordan Banich led the Cougar offense with 16 kills while
Taylor DeGraaf collected a double-double with 10 kills and 18 digs.
CSULA Breakdown: The Golden Eagles are fourth in the CCAA standings with six games remaining in their regular season. CSULA dropped back-to-back games at Humboldt State (Oct. 21) and Sonoma State (Oct. 23) before registering a four-set victory against Cal State Dominguez Hills (Oct. 29) at the Eagles Nest.
Last Weekend RecapThe Cougars collected their first CCAA road victory with a sweep at Chico State on Friday, Oct. 30. The squad hit a season-best .327 with registering their lowest hitting errors of the season with 10 total. Banich tallied 12 kills and 11 digs while
Cheyanne Patin added 11 kills. On Saturday, the Cougars dropped a five-set heartbreaker (12-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 9-15) at Stanislaus State.
Sometimes 25 Points Isn't EnoughThe Cougars have had to go to "extra points" in sets on seven occasions this season. This is not something new in their young program. CSUSM has had 56 sets go past the 25-point mark in its five years. On a positive note, the Cougars are 33-23 in those sets. The highest set score was a 42-40 victory over William Jessup on Aug. 23, 2012 that resulted in a sweep over the Warriors.

Faith Fortune is quickly climbing up the CSUSM season record books with her 78 total block and 64 block assists. With four matches remaining, Fortune ranks third in block assists and fourth in total blocks. Brittany Thompson set the record in 2012 in both categories with 94 total blocks and 72 block assists.

Andrea Leonard enters her fifth season in charge of the Cougar volleyball team, a program she has built from the ground up since arriving on campus in 2010. Entering this season, she has accumulated an 112-46 (.709) record at CSUSM that includes four Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference Tournament Championships and four trips to the NAIA National Championships.
New TerritoryAfter four seasons of competition in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Cougars enter their first season of NCAA Division II competition in 2015. CSUSM is currently in the second year of a three-year transition to full NCAA Division II membership. As a part of the transition, the Cougars will be ineligible for postseason play in 2015 and 2016.
New ConferenceCal State San Marcos is a part of the 13-team
California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), made up of 12 CSU institutions and UC San Diego. The CCAA is one of the premier NCAA Division II leagues in the nation. Its teams have won more national championships (153) than any other conference.
