Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 14 CSUDH Handles CSUSM, 3-0

CARSON, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team dropped its third consecutive match, 3-0, at No. 14 Cal State Dominguez Hills in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Sunday afternoon at Toro Stadium.

The Toros scored three times within the match's first 16 minutes to take control of the game. CSUDH improves to 8-1-2 overall and 4-0-2 in CCAA play.

The Cougars drop to 3-5-2, 1-4-1 CCAA.

"[Cal State] Dominguez [Hills] is a really good team, they were the strongest we've seen all year. They really put it to us early on and we never recovered," said CSUSM head coach Ron Pulvers. "We had some aggressive moments and I thought we had enough chances to score, but we ended up not making anything out of them."

The Cougars outshot the Toros, 20-16, and earned six corner kicks compared to just two for CSUDH. However, CSUSM was kept off the score sheet for the third straight game.

Mike Dias scored his eighth goal of the season in the fifth minute to make it 1-0. Then, Bruno Montini and Tony Alfaro scored in less than a two minute span to make it 3-0 by the 15:14 mark.

The Cougars will host their final CCAA home matches of 2015 next weekend at The Cougar Den. San Francisco State comes to town on Friday for a 3 p.m. kick-off before CSUSM faces Cal State Monterey Bay on Sunday at 2 p.m.
