LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team fell 2-0 to UC San Diego in its 2015 season finale in non-conference play at Triton Soccer Stadium.
The Cougars finish their first season of competition in NCAA Division II and the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) with a 3-9-5 overall record.
UCSD will look forward to the upcoming CCAA Championship tournament holding a 12-5-1 record.
The teams went into the half scoreless, thanks in part to five saves from CSUSM keeper
Erica Dory. However, Katie O'Laughlin and Talyor Ramos scored in the 65
th and 82
nd minute, respectively, to hand the Tritons their fifth win in their last six games.
Meghan Randig got off four shots for the Cougars, and
Karly Dunning had a pair. CSUSM was outshot 19-8 on the night.
CSUSM says goodbye to five seniors –
Natalie Lara,
Paulina Good,
Sarah Campbell, Cory Biedermann and
Heather Flores. The group combined for two Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) championships, two appearances at the final site of the NAIA National Championships and four A.I.I. All-Conference selections.
