SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team dropped a four-set decision to Point Loma in non-conference action on Tuesday night at Hunter Gym. Final scores were 25-17, 25-12, 20-25 and 25-18.
The Cougars fall to 5-18 overall while the Sea Lions improve to 14-8.
Senior
Jordan Banich led the Cougar offense with 13 kills and freshman
Courtney Hulla added nine kills. Sophomore
Ashley Kaylor tallied 19 digs and junior
Taylor Harris dished out 39 assists.
Down 0-2 at the intermission, the Cougars put together a five-point run to take a 9-7 lead and did not trail the rest of the set to win 25-20, forcing a fourth set.
CSUSM stayed within reach in the fourth set until a 5-1 run put PLNU up 17-11. The Sea Lions cruised to a 25-18 victory to win the match.
Heather Leavitt led the way for the Sea Lions with 20 kills and a .370 clip.
The Cougars travel to Chico State on Friday, Oct. 30. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
