Back-to-Back, Jack!After not scoring for three consecutive matches, the Cougars responded with back-to-back wins over San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay last weekend, both of the three-goal variety. On Friday against SFSU, the Cougars scored three times in the first half – highlighted by a goal and an assist from freshman defender
Jacob Cintas – and cruised to a 3-0 win. On Sunday, the Cougars trailed 2-1 to 10-man CSUMB, but scored twice in the final two minutes to escape with a 3-2 victory.

CCAA TableThe pair of victories over the weekend moved the Cougars from a tie for 12
th into seventh place in the conference standings with 10 points and a 3-4-1 mark, but there's a caveat – CSUSM has played more matches then all but one team below. CSUSM is one of three teams in the conference that is currently on a multiple-game winning streak. Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal Poly Pomona have both won four straight.
Sonoma State PreviewAll-time vs. SSU: Friday will be the first-ever meeting between the squads.
SSU Breakdown: SSU enters Friday's contest in ninth place in the conference standings with seven points and a 2-3-1 record. However, the Seawolves have two games in hand on the Cougars. SSU is 1-2-1 over its last four matches. Goalkeeper Mitch North leads the CCAA with 53 saves and is third in save percentage (.815).
Humboldt State PreviewAll-time vs. HSU: Sunday will be the first-ever meeting between the teams.
HSU Breakdown: The 'Jacks had last weekend off after what had been a rough streak. Since its only victory of the season on Sept. 10 at Holy Names, HSU had gone 0-6-1. HSU is at the bottom of the CCAA table and ranks in the bottom two in nearly every offensive category.

Ron Pulvers is in his 20
th season as a men's collegiate head coach and 10
th in charge of CSUSM. Pulvers, who started the CSUSM program from the ground up in 2006, holds a 220-126-29 (.625) career coaching record, including a 94-55-15 (.619) mark at CSUSM.
New TerritoryAfter nine seasons of competition in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Cougars enter their first season of NCAA Division II competition in 2015. CSUSM is currently in the second year of a three-year transition to full NCAA Division II membership. As a part of the transition, the Cougars will be ineligible for postseason play in 2015 and 2016.
New ConferenceCal State San Marcos is in its first season competing in the
California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The CCAA is made up of 12 CSU institutions and UC San Diego. The CCAA is one of the premier NCAA Division II leagues in the nation. Its teams have won more national championships (153) than any other conference. The Cougars came in tied for 12
th in the
