SAN MARCOS, Calif. – After beginning its final NAIA season with 12 games on the road, the Cal State San Marcos volleyball team is ready to play in front of the Cougar faithful before returning to the road.  The Cougars host Redlands on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Costa Mesa on Friday, Sept. 5 for matches against Mayville State and host Vanguard.

Make sure to pick up a free poster at the welcome table prior to Wednesday's game. It features all home games/events for the fall sport teams (volleyball, men's/women's cross country and men's/women's soccer).
 
LAST WEEKEND
The Cougars put together a solid showing at the UC Merced Holiday Inn Express Invitational, going 5-0 with four sweeps as well as a five-set thriller over Southern Oregon.  As a team, the Cougars tallied 35 aces and 30 blocks on the weekend. CSUSM held its opponents to an amazingly low .052 attack percentage.
 
REDWOODS BREAKDOWN
All-time record vs. UR: 1-0
Last Meeting: The Cougars posted a 3-1 victory at Redlands last season. Redlands High School grad Alyssa Hubbard recorded a double-double consisting of career-bests of 20 kills and 17 digs.
2014 Season: The Bulldogs have yet to step on the court of a match in 2014.  They capped the 2013 season at 6-22, dropping 18 of its last 19 games.  The season was highlighted with a five-set thriller against Whittier on Oct. 25.
 
MAYVILLE STATE BREAKDOWN
All-time record vs. MSU: 2-0
Last Meeting: The Cougars and Comets last met in the second round of the Association of Independent Association (A.I.I) Tournament on Nov. 9, 2012.  CSUSM hit a program-record .434 behind 53 kills on 99 attempts and only 10 errors. Senior Alyssa Foster nearly completed a double-double with 42 assists and nine digs.
2014 Season: MSU went 1-3 at the Morningside Invitational in Sioux City, Iowa last weekend. The Comets lone victory came in a five-set win over Central Methodist (Mo.)
 
VANGUARD BREAKDOWN
All-time record vs. VU: 2-3
Last Meeting: The Cougars dropped a four-set heartbreaker on Oct. 18, 2013 against then-ranked No. 16 Vanguard. Sophomore Markisha Henderson-Diaz collected a team-best 12 kills with a .409 attack percentage. CSUSM out-hit 64-48 and out-dug 72-66 the Lions.
2014 Season: The Lions began the season with a 2-3 record including being swept by Southern Oregon in their final match of the Biola Summer Slam two weekends ago.  Vanguard got back on track last weekend, going 5-0 at the Concordia (Calif.) Labor Day Festival.
