FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team reached the 100 win mark in program history in three-plus seasons with a sweep at Hope International Wednesday. Final scores were 25-15, 25-13 and 25-17.
"Amazing team accomplishment, I am so proud of this team on how they come together and play with passion," said head coach
Andrea Leonard. "We have been working towards building for the end of the season (championship) and we are steadily improving and progressing toward our goals.
"Every player is contributing and bringing us closer together to perform at a high level."
Freshman outside hitter
Cheyenne Richards led CSUSM with 11 kills on a .455 hitting percentage. Sophomore outside hitter
Brooke Butler snagged her second double-double of the season with 10 kills and 11 digs. Senior middle blocker
Erin Talafus tallied a season-best five block assists.
As a team, CSUSM put together a .407 attack percentage that included a .640 second set performance with 16 kills on 25 attempts and no errors.
HIU hit .140 as a team despite the efforts of Johannah Wade who finished with 14 kills.
The Cougars return home next week to shot San Diego Christian on Oct. 14 at Pacific Ridge School. First serve is 7 p.m.
