OCEANSIDE, Calif. – The No. 3 Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team fell to News Release 77-76 on Tuesday night in an exhibition at MiraCosta College.
Blake Nash's layup with under 10 seconds remaining was no good, and News Release played a long outlet off a rebound to Anthony Johnson. Johnson had a clear path to the rim, but
Tyson Kygar caught up to him and fouled him at the bucket with 1.4 remaining.
Johnson's first free throw was good, and he missed the second on purpose.
Wade Collie's long range attempt was short, and the Cougars left with the one-point loss.
Nash registered a game-high 17 points and four steals.
Julian Camper was a presence inside with 15 points and five boards. Collie had 12 points and six rebounds.
News Release is a traveling club basketball team which features former collegiate players.
The Cougars officially open their regular season on Saturday, Nov. 1 vs. Fresno Pacific at 7:30 p.m. at MiraCosta College.
