SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team begins their final stretch of the regular season, hosting four of the final six matches at Pacific Ridge School. The Cougars travel to No. 5 Biola on Tuesday, Oct. 21 before returning home to face La Sierra on Thursday, Oct. 23 and Simpson on Sunday, Oct. 26.

College Rocks Hunger Food Drive
For the final four matches of the regular season, the CSUSM Volleyball Team will be collecting food to donate to the San Diego Food Bank as part of the College Rocks Hunger Food Drive (Oct. 17-Nov. 9).  The goal is to collect more than 10,000 lbs of food.
 
Strong Presence In National Statistics 
The Cougars are ranked in seven categories at the national level. The seven rankings are: No. 28 in assists per game (11.67), No. 27 in aces (145), No. 31 in total assists (992), No. 32 in total kills (1079), No. 33 in kills per game (12.69), No. 41 in hitting percentage (.209) and No. 50 in aces per game (1.71).  Senior Alyssa Foster also makes an appearance; ranking No. 20 in total assists (945) and No. 25 assists per game (9.950)

Last Week Recap
The Cougars went 3-1 last week, highlighted with a sweep over No. 19 Vanguard.  CSUSM began the week with a sweep over San Diego Christian at home.  The Cougars followed that win by going 2-1 at The Master's College Tournament. CSUSM won a five-set thriller over Embry-Riddle (Fla.) before falling to host The Master's College in four.

Last time out: L, 0-3 (24-26, 20-25, 17-25)
Biola Breakdown: The Eagles are undefeated for the month of October, with their most recent loss coming by the hands of No. 3 Concordia in a five-set heartbreaker on Sept. 20. Biola ranks No. 1 in kills per a set (14.76) while senior middle blocker Amy Weststeyn leads the nation with a.461 hitting percentage.

La Sierra Breakdown: After dropping four straight to conclude September, the Golden Eagles have won three of their last six matches including a five-set victory at Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) on Oct. 18. Senior outside hitter Lina Semaia ranks No. 11 in the nation with 4.23 kills per a set average.

Simpson Breakdown: The Red Hawks are 1-6 for the month of October with their lone victory coming at William Jessup (3-1) on Oct. 16.
