No. 23 CSUSM Edged by Rocky Mountain in Utah

Box Score

SALT LAKE CITY – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Rocky Mountain on Saturday afternoon at Dumke Field on the campus of Westminster College.

Oliver Gore scored in the 63rd minute off an assist from Jace Beck to help the Battlin' Bears to 9-2-1 on the year.

CSUSM dropped to 6-2-2 overall

"I think we were really flat for a lot of the match and we never really responded until we were desperate at the end," said CSUSM head coach Ron Pulvers. "Both teams had just a handful of chances, and they made the most of one. We lacked purpose today and we definitely need to come out better from the start tomorrow."

RMC avenged Sept. 15's 4-2 loss to the Cougars, which resulted in CSUSM taking the Battlin' Bears spot at No. 22 in Sept. 17's NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
Zach Sheppard made four saves on 11 shots by RMC. CSUSM tallied nine shots, four of which were on frame and saved by RMC keeper Joachim Soderstrom.

The Cougars turn around to face host Westminster (5-6) at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. CSUSM topped WC 3-0 last season on Oct. 27, 2012.
