BETHESDA-CSUSM PREVIEW
The Flames enter Tuesday's match at 6-8 on the season after a 7-0 road victory at Pacific Union College on Oct. 2 that snapped a five-match losing skid. CSUSM and BUC have split their previous two matches in the all-time series. The Cougars downed the Flames 2-0 in the 2012 regular-season finale behind goals from Sullivan Tobin and Alex Brunsell.

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
CSUSM dropped out of the NAIA Top 25 last week, but is still in the national discussion after receiving five votes in the most recent poll on Oct. 1. The Cougars made their debut in the poll at No. 22 on Sept. 17 before sliding down to No. 23 on Sept. 24.

PULVERS CLOSES IN ON WIN #200
Head coach Ron Pulvers, now in his 18th season as a collegiate men's soccer coach, is closing in on his 200th career victory. Pulvers enters Tuesday's match with an overall record of 197-118-27, needing three more wins to join 17 other coaches at the double-century mark. Prior to his time at CSUSM, Pulvers went 126-71-14 over 10 seasons at Baker (Kan.). CSUSM is 71-47-13 under Pulvers' watch.

SAVED BY THE GLOVES
The Cougar defense is statistically one of the best in the NAIA at this point in the season. CSUSM ranks eighth with five shutouts and 17th in shutouts per match (.45). Goalkeeper Zach Sheppard is 16th in goals against per game (0.70) and has played every minute between the pipes this season.

EVEN AT THE TOP
CSUSM has used an extremely balanced offensive attack this season. Four players are tied for the team-lead with three goals – Eric Lopez, Diego Fontes, Scott Rice and Alex Jaziri. Luka Stevanovic has contributed a pair of goals, while five others have a single score this season. Lopez leads the Cougars in total points with eight and is the only Cougar with multiple assists thus far.
