Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif.— Revenge is not always sweet. The No. 24 Cal State San Marcos volleyball team defeated Westmont back in September when the Warriors were undefeated and ranked No. 9 in the NAIA, but came up short Tuesday evening looking for a season sweep.
The Cougars were never able to get a consistent attack going against the Warriors, who took the match without much drama in straight sets 25-17, 25-19, 25-17.
Taylor DeGraaf led all scorers with 10 kills, while setter
Alyssa Foster recorded a team best 18 assists and two blocks. The duo of two-time All-A.I.I. Conference each recorded six digs as well.
The Warriors were able to hit .293 against CSUSM— the second highest percentage that the Cougars have allowed all season. On the opposite end, CSUSM hit just .048 on the match, recording just four more kills than errors.
CSUSM drops to 22-10 on the season with the loss, while Westmont improves to 17-5. The Cougars will look to rebound and close their regular season with a win Saturday evening against La Sierra in Riverside. The team will then have a few weeks off before heading to the A.I.I. Conference Tournament in Clinton, Iowa in mid-November.
