COMEBACK KIDS
CSUSM recovered from a two-goal deficit with less than six minutes to go in Friday's season opener at Holy Names, using goals by
Scott Rice and
Sullivan Tobin to force a 3-3 draw.
Jake Kaiser handed the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the 20
th minute, but HNU recovered for three consecutive goals to take a 3-1 lead with 20 minutes to go. CSUSM moved to 2-4-1 all-time in season openers.
PLAYIN' CHICKEN
The Cougars are 3-0 all-time against Pomona-Pitzer and have never surrendered a goal to the Sagehens.

Cary Cousineau and
Panos Kotselas each recorded an assist in CSUSM's last contest against Pomona-Pitzer, a 2-0 victory in 2010. The 2012 Sagehens are currently 0-1, having dropped its only contest of the season to Whitman (Wash.) on Sept. 2. Sophomore Lawrence McDonald led the Sagehens with five goals in 2011.
FLYIN' CLOSE TO THE SUN
Fresno Pacific, in the first year of its probationary period as the school transitions to NCAA Division II from NAIA, recently earned its first win at the NCAA DII level on Sept. 1. Senior Paul Islas scored twice in FPU's 3-0 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay. Islas has scored a combined 18 goals over the past two seasons. The Cougars are 1-2 all-time against the Sunbirds, having won the last contest between the two teams, 2-1, in 2011.

FUTBOL TAILGATE
Join CSUSM Athletes September 11 for the Cougar Tripleheader and pre-game tailgate before the men's and women's soccer games. The tailgate starts at 2:00 p.m. at The Clarke. Then, head on down to the men's game against TMC at 3:00. The CSUSM women play Biola at 5:00 p.m.

A.I.I. TOURNAMENT COMING TO CSUSM
A year after the men's and women's soccer teams hoisted the A.I.I. championship banner, Cal State San Marcos will host this year's A.I.I. Championship Tournament November 9-10 at Mangrum Field and the Multipurpose Field. The six-game tournament will crown a men's and women's champion and hand two automatic NAIA tournament berths to the winners.
