Box Score
SAN MARCOS, Calif.-- The Cal State San Marcos women's volleyball team hung tight in one of the toughest road matches they will face this season in front of a crowd of 779 at Cal Baptist, but fell to the Lancers 16-25, 19-25, 22-25 in Riverside.
The Cougars, who have been battling the injury bug as of late, received just one kill from the talented trio of talented outside hitters
Taylor DeGraaf,
Lindsey Sappington, and
Andi Vordermann, who each saw limited or no playing time.
Still, CSUSM kept the game close through the excellent defense and passing of libero
Nichole May, who recorded 11 of the teams 38 digs. Setter
Alyssa Foster turned in another solid all-around effort with four kills, 29 assists, and seven digs.
Offensively,
Brittany Thompson picked up the slack with a team high 10 kills, and
Erin Talafus chipped in eight kills and a sparkling .467 hitting percentage.
The Cougars (13-7) will return home when they host San Diego Christian Tuesday, September 18 at 8:00 pm at Escondido High School.
