The #11 ranked Cal State San Marcos Women's Golf team made a good run at upsetting #3 ranked British Columbia for the A.I.I. Conference Title, but their final round 312 was not quite enough to hold off the Thunderbirds Monday at the Antelope Hills Golf Course in Prescott, AZ. San Marcos scored 612 overall for the tournament after their first round 300 on Sunday.
Although the CSUSM finished 11 strokes behind UBC, the Cougars beat out #14 Victoria (B.C.) by 13 strokes for 2
nd place, and will be eligible for an at-large berth to the NAIA National Championships in Greenville, TN.
Individually,
Lisa Copeland led the Cougars with 151 (70-81), and
Tess Russell was just one stroke back at 152 (75-77).
Vanessa Chap (76-79, 155), Felecia Titus (79-77, 156), and
Stephanie Cole (79-79, 158) all scored for San Marcos in the tournament as well.
