Chap, Cougars surge on final day, finish 5th in Lady Otter Invitational

The #11 Cal State San Marcos Women's Golf team wrapped up regular season play with a fantastic final round at the Lady Otter Invitational, moving up to 5th place in the field consisting of all NCAA Division II opponents. The Cougars shot 318 in the final round of the 54-hole tournament on the Par-72 Black Horse Golf Course, bettering their rounds of 324 and 322 Monday.

Leading the way on Tuesday was freshman Vanessa Chap, who fired a 70— the best round of the tournament— bumping her all the way up from 15th place to 4th overall in the loaded field. Chap finished the tournament at 229, shooting 80-79-70. Fellow freshman Felicia Titus also had a strong tournament, firing
77-82-77 to place 13th overall.

Lisa Copeland's rounds of 83-78-83 earned her a 22nd place finish at 244, and Stephanie Cole (85-83-89, 257) and Tess Russell (84-86-88, 258) finished 37th and 40th, respectively.

The Cougars' next competition will be the A.I.I. Conference Championships April 20th-21st in Prescott, Arizona as they will look to earn an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament.
