The #11 Cal State San Marcos Women's Golf team wrapped up regular season play with a fantastic final round at the Lady Otter Invitational, moving up to 5
th place in the field consisting of all NCAA Division II opponents. The Cougars shot 318 in the final round of the 54-hole tournament on the Par-72 Black Horse Golf Course, bettering their rounds of 324 and 322 Monday.
Leading the way on Tuesday was freshman
Vanessa Chap, who fired a 70— the best round of the tournament— bumping her all the way up from 15
th place to 4
th overall in the loaded field. Chap finished the tournament at 229, shooting 80-79-70. Fellow freshman
Felicia Titus also had a strong tournament, firing
77-82-77 to place 13
th overall.
Lisa Copeland's rounds of 83-78-83 earned her a 22
nd place finish at 244, and
Stephanie Cole (85-83-89, 257) and
Tess Russell (84-86-88, 258) finished 37
th and 40
th, respectively.
The Cougars' next competition will be the A.I.I. Conference Championships April 20
th-21
st in Prescott, Arizona as they will look to earn an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament.
