Team Results
The #15 Cal State San Marcos Women's Golf Team fired a 317 in the final round to win the Escondido Women's Intercollegiate held at Escondido Country Club, knocking off a couple ranked opponents in the process.
The Cougars established themselves as the team to beat after Monday's opening round 318, and backed it up Tuesday to finish at 635 for the 36-hole tournament, 6 strokes ahead of #9 Victoria (B.C.). Last year's NAIA National Champions and host school Cal Baptist finished 3
rd overall, and #21 ranked Point Loma placed 4
th as a team.
Individually, the Cougars were led by
Tess Russell, who shot rounds of 79 and 76 to finish 5th with a final score of 155. Senior
Stephanie Cole was not far behind in 7th at 157, after following up her 75 with an 82 Tuesday.
Lisa Copeland (81-80) tied for 9th and had a solid tournament with a two-day total of 161, and
Felicia Titus (86-79, 165) had a strong final round to seal the victory for San Marcos.
Amanda Rudd finished the tournament at 172 after her two rounds of 83 and 89.
The Cougars will compete next at the Chico State Wildcat Invitational March 19
th-20
