Women’s Golf finishes 1st among NAIA schools, T-6th overall at Super San Diego Collegiate Championships

The #15 ranked Cal State San Marcos Women's Golf Team closed out play in the Super San Diego Collegiate Championship, finishing 6th of of 19 teams, and 1st among NAIA schools in what sets a strong tone for the season. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo captured the overall team title.

Tess Russell distinguished herself as one of the best in a tournament flush with NCAA teams, placing 5th overall with a two-day score of 161 (81, 80). Nearly joining Russell in the top-20 were Vanessa Chap who shot a 168, (84, 84), and Lisa Copeland who scored 169, (84, 85).  Felicia Titus posted a solid 86 Tuesday, giving her 171 for the tournament. Annelise Frederiksen also played Tuesday, but did not factor into the scoring.

CSUSM finished 6 strokes ahead of #21 ranked Point Loma, who hosted the competition. The Cougars will not play again until the Lady Cougar Spring Invitational, which San Marcos hosts February 26th-28th on Lake San Marcos Golf Course.
