PRESCOTT, Ariz.— Closing in on the end of the regular season, the No. 18 ranked Cal State San Marcos Volleyball team is playing some of their best volleyball to date, winning the Embry-Riddle tournament Saturday in commanding fashion.
The Cougars kicked off play Friday with victories over William Jessup and host Embry-Riddle, and concluded action Saturday with a big win over Johnson and Wales (Colo.). CSUSM won all nine sets throughout the three performances, and have now won their last 12 sets of play— the longest streak they have held all season.
Outside hitters
Taylor DeGraaf and
Nichole May were both named to the All-Tournament team, as well as setter
Alyssa Foster who set up the majority of the kills for the duo.
“I'm really proud of this team and the way they are progressing,” beamed head coach
Andrea Leonard. “I thought this tournament was a great way to continue building on our total team contribution. Everyone was able to play and make an impact, which has continued to build our confidence.”
The Cougars will look to build off that team chemistry and confidence as they close out the regular season Friday at home against No. 8 The Master's College starting at 8:00pm. It will be the final home game for the seniors before the team heads to North Dakota for the 2012 A.I.I. Conference Championships, where they will look to defend their title from last year.
