SAN MARCOS, Calif.— Looking to rebound from two tough losses to formidable opponents last week, the No. 16 ranked Cal State San Marcos women's volleyball team will face another tough test Tuesday against No. 14 Westmont at Escondido High School.
Schedule
Match 29
Tuesday, October 23– 5:00 p.m.
No. 14 Westmont (19-5) at No. 16 Cal State San Marcos (18-8)
Escondido High School- Escondido, Calif.
The Lowdown
Westmont and CSUSM have met twice prior to Tuesday's matchup, with each team winning one match apiece. The Cougars won in straight sets on a neutral court last year in the Biola Summer Slam, but lost a close five set match in September that was dubbed the NAIA Game of the Week. Each team scored exactly 99 points on the match, and the Cougars hit .232 for the contest, nearly identical to the Warriors' .234 attacking percentage.
The fourth set of that match exemplified the competitive closeness between the teams, as it featured 19 tie scores before the Cougars were able to win the set on one of
Taylor DeGraaf's 19 kills on the evening.
Unlike their previous encounter in 2012, this time the Warriors will have to face San Marcos on their home court, where the Cougars are 5-1 on the season. CSUSM is 3-2 against ranked NAIA opponents this season.
