Facing their longest roadtrip of the season and an animated crowd keyed up after the first win in UC Merced history, the #17 CSUSM women's volleyball team silenced the Bobcats and their fans with a dominating first set that paved the way to a quick three set victory 25-7, 25-22, 25-17.
Taylor Degraaf led the way for the Cougars with a game high 19 kills, 9 digs, and 3 service aces, along with her fantastic .552 hitting percentage. Brittany Thompson and Erin Talafus also had excellent evenings on offense, each recording 4 kills and a .667 hitting percentage. Thompson also contributed 3 of the Cougars 11 aces.
Alyssa Foster led the game in assists, as Cougar fans are becoming accustomed to, tallying 30 on the match. Libero Nichole May had 10 digs in the contest to go along with 2 aces, two categories she is among the nations best in. The Cougars as a team hit .329 on the evening and recorded 4 blocks at the net.
With the victory, the Cougars are now 15-5, and have won 6 straight games. Their next game is Wednesday September 28th at Chapman University.
