Box Score Playing in their final regular season game of the season and the final home game for the team's three seniors, CSUSM men's soccer got a tough fight from La Sierra but prevailed in the end 1-0.

For the Cougars, the Halloween game at home almost proved to be more of a trick than a treat, with La Sierra hanging in the contest until the end. The game was played largely at midfield, though the Cougars had the better of play, outshooting La Sierra 12-3 and holding a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The game's lone goal came in the 23
rd minute, as cross into the box was handled but not controlled by the La Sierra keeper. Defender
Jordan Shadeed alertly pounced on the opportunity, heading the ball away from the keeper and into the net to put his team up 1-0.
CSUSM faced plenty of adversity in holding onto that lead, both from La Sierra and from a flurry of cards late in the first half that culminated in midfielder
Panos Kotselas getting sent off, leaving the Cougars with 10 players for the entire second half.
Even undermanned though, the home team was still able to dictate play thanks largely to the team's back line, which limited La Sierra's opportunities. Keeper
Kevin Ernst made 1 save to earn the shutout.
The Cougars will begin play as the #5-seed at the A.I.I. Conference Tournament on November 10th against 4th-seeded Thomas University.
