An excellent third round propelled Cougar men's golf to a strong finish at the Bill Cullum Invitational on Tuesday, as CSUSM jumped up a couple spots to take 13
th in the field.
Played at the par-72 Wood Ranch Golf Course in Simi Valley, the three-round tournament featured a primarily-NCAA field of 15 teams. After closing out day one in 15th place with team round of 305 and 312, the Cougars posted a terrific score of 297 in Tuesday's third round to finish with a team total of 914.
U.C. Riverside won the event at 871, with San Jose taking second at 873, and host school CSU Northridge finishing third at 880. CSUSM's third-round score was the 8th best in the field on the day.

Greg Hutton's golfers shot under 80 in round three, with newcomer
Jared Hentila leading the charge by carding even par 72.
Adam Loran was just one shot back at 73, with
Kevin Ruby also posting a strong score of 74.
For the tournament, Loran and Ruby led the way with three round totals of 228, tying them for 45
th. Hentila was one shot back at 229, tying him for 51
st, and
Marco Gomez tied for 56
th at 230.
Robert Nicanor rounded out the field, shooting 236 to tie for 68
th.
Cougar men's golf will play in its final fall tournament next week at the Master's College Invitational.
