Box Score Cougar men's soccer pushed its win streak to three and unbeaten streak to five on Wednesday, traveling to El Cajon to defeat San Diego Christian 4-0.
CSUSM improves to 7-2-2 this season. San Diego Christian drops to 1-9-1.
Though it was not the team's sharpest effort of the season, Coach Ron Pulvers' squad continues to work hard and get results, as they did in today's game.
"That's a tough place to play and a team with a lot of fight," commented Pulvers. "I'm pleased with the result. Our team has a lot of will and won't let opportunities slip away."
Alex Rodriguez got the scoring started in the 19th minute on Wednesday, receiving a pass from Tyler Spitznagel and chipping it over the keeper and into the net.
Dan Sims added to that in the 34th minute, as the team captain freed himself in the box and hit a rocket into the back of the net to put CSUSM up 2-0.
The Cougars would keep it going and score again before halftime, as Sterling Petersen headed in a Devon Booth cross. In the second half, Turner Ward capped things off in the 83rd minute, tapping in a Spitznagel cross.
Keeper Kevin Ernst made three saves to pick up the shutout.
CSUSM will look to continue its win streak this Sunday at UC Santa Cruz.
