Box Score A pair of goals from forward Brandon Zuniga led Cougar men's soccer to its first win of 2009, a decisive 3-0 victory over Hope International.
CSUSM is now 1-2 on the season. Hope International falls to 0-1-1.
"It's a well-deserved and much-needed victory," commented Coach Ron Pulvers after the game. "We played very well and had some excellent moments."
Zuniga's first goal - the first of the year for both him and the team - came in the 23rd minute. The 1-0 lead would last until the senior found the net again in the 62nd minute off an assist from Max Blumenshine. Jose Rivas would tally the team's final goal in the 90th.
The Cougars will face a tough test in a huge game tomorrow against Master's College as the team continues play at The Master's Tournament in Santa Clarita.
