Box Score Cougar men's soccer did everything but win the game on Friday, settling for a 2-2 tie at Soka Univeristy.
The tie moves CSUSM to 9-5-1 on the year, and Soka to 4-10-2.
CSUSM was due for a letdown, as the team has been scorching hot since its 1-3 start. Facing a much-improved Soka team on the road, the Cougars came out a little flat, but picked up the pace after Soka scored the game's first goal.
Down 1-0 at the half, CSUSM tied it in the 60th minute on a goal by Miguel Jacobo, his second of the season. Brandon Zuniga would put the Cougars ahead with his 8th goal in the 84th minute, but Soka found the back of the net again with just a few minutes remaining in regulation. Despite numerous overtime opportunities, CSUSM settled for the 2-2 tie.
The Cougars out-shot Soka 21-5, and held a 10-0 corner kick advantage.
CSUSM will play its final regular season game at Chapman University on Monday.
