Heredia joined the Cougars in the fall of 2018 as the program's volunteer assistant coach for cross country/track & field.
Heredia came to CSUSM following a five-year stint as the associatate head coach for La Jolla Country Day from 2013-18. While at La Jolla Country Day, his athletes rewrote the record book by setting multiple event records from the 400-meter run to the 3200-meter run and various relays. Heredia helped send multiple athletes to compete at all divisions of the NCAA.
In addition to coaching, Heredia spent years as a personal trainer and as a lab assistant for a sports performance clinic in San Marcos. When not coaching, Heredia competes for Boom Running Club.
As a student-athlete at UC San Diego, Heredia was a four-year letterwinner for both cross country and track & field as he specialized in middle distance.
Heredia graduated from UC San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Neuroscience in 2013 and received his Master's of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Performance from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2018. He his is also a Level 2 Certified Endurance Coach through the United States Track and Field Association.
